Getting started

What does CargoBoss do?

CargoBoss Philippines is a freight forwarder for imports from China to the Philippines. You buy from your supplier (Alibaba, 1688, Taobao, a factory, or any seller), your supplier delivers to our China warehouse, and we handle consolidation, shipping, customs clearance and taxes until your goods are ready for pickup or delivery in Manila or Cebu.

I've never imported before. Can I still use CargoBoss?

Yes. Most of our clients are first-time importers, online sellers and small business owners. We have a step-by-step importing guide, a free import consultation, and chat support 7 days a week to walk you through your first order.

Is there a minimum order or shipment size?

No minimum. Even a single small box is fine. Packages of 0.20 CBM or below are charged a fixed small-package rate (₱1,900 for Manila sea, ₱2,300 for Cebu sea).

How does the whole process work, step by step?
  • Book your shipment on our website for your route to get your unique CargoBoss order code.
  • Send the correct China warehouse address and your order code to your supplier.
  • We receive your cargo in China, measure it, and load it on the next available container or flight.
  • Track your shipment online and through email updates while it is in transit and in customs.
  • Pay your billing statement once it arrives and upload your proof of payment.
  • Pick up at our Manila or Cebu warehouse, or have it delivered.
Is buying from Alibaba safe?

It can be, if you choose suppliers carefully. Look for verified suppliers with a long trading history and good reviews, ask for photos or samples before a big order, and pay through Alibaba Trade Assurance where possible so your payment is protected. If you're unsure about a supplier, you can raise it during a free consultation.

Which routes do you serve?

We have six routes from four China warehouses:

  • Guangzhou → Manila (sea)
  • Shishi → Manila (sea)
  • Yiwu → Manila (sea)
  • Fujian → Manila (air)
  • Guangzhou → Cebu (sea)
  • Yiwu → Cebu (sea)

Pick the China warehouse closest to your supplier to keep their local delivery cost and time down.

Is CargoBoss legit?

Yes. CargoBoss Freight Forwarding Corp. has more than 7 years of experience, over 95,000 shipments delivered, and four warehouses in China. We've been featured in Manila Bulletin, The Philippine Star, BusinessMirror and BusinessWorld. You can read client feedback on our customer reviews page.

Where is your office?

Our office is at Level 10-1 One Global Place, 25th Street & 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Cargo pickup is at our Manila (Malabon) and Cebu warehouses, not at the office.

Can I import for personal use, not just for business?

Yes. Many clients ship furniture, home items, gadgets and gifts for personal use. The same rates and rules apply.

Do I need a business permit, DTI or import accreditation to use CargoBoss?

Not for regular goods. Under our consolidated service, the shipment is imported under CargoBoss's import arrangement, so you don't need your own import accreditation.

Some regulated products (food, cosmetics, supplements, medical devices, chemicals and similar) may need permits from government agencies. Ask us before you order these.

Which online stores and suppliers can I buy from?

Any seller in China that can deliver to our China warehouse: Alibaba, 1688, Taobao, Made-in-China, factories, wholesale markets, or a supplier you found on WeChat. Ask the seller to ship to our warehouse address with your order code.

Do I need to speak Chinese to import?

No. Most Alibaba suppliers speak English, and Taobao and 1688 can be used with your browser's translate feature. You only need to give them our warehouse address and your order code.

Do you ship from other countries like the US, Japan or Korea?

Our routes are from China to Manila and Cebu. For goods from other countries, message us and we'll tell you if we can help.

What's the checklist for my first import?
  • Decide what to import and how many pieces, then find a supplier.
  • Ask the supplier for unit price, carton size, carton weight and pieces per carton.
  • Estimate shipping with our calculator so you know your landed cost per piece.
  • Book your shipment with CargoBoss and get your order code (one code per supplier).
  • Pay your supplier and give them our warehouse address and your order code.
  • Track, pay your billing on arrival, and pick up or receive delivery.
How much capital do I need to start importing?

There's no fixed amount. Some clients start with a few thousand pesos of products shipped as one small package. Budget for the product cost, your supplier's local delivery in China, and shipping, which you can estimate with our calculator.

Can I order samples first?

Yes, and we recommend it for new suppliers. Samples can be shipped by air for speed, or as a small sea package for ₱1,900 (Manila) or ₱2,300 (Cebu).

How do I compute my landed cost per piece?

Add the product cost (converted to pesos), your supplier's delivery to our China warehouse, and the CargoBoss shipping fee, then divide by the number of pieces. Since our rates already include customs taxes and duties, there's no separate tax to add.

Example: 200 pieces at ₱80 each = ₱16,000. Shipping 0.5 CBM to Manila = ₱4,750. Total ₱20,750 ÷ 200 = about ₱104 per piece.

What is LCL?

LCL means Less-than-Container Load. Instead of renting a whole container, your cargo shares a container with other importers' goods, so you only pay for the space you use. It's what makes importing affordable for small orders.

Can I use CargoBoss for my Shopee, Lazada or TikTok Shop business?

Yes. Many of our clients are online sellers who import stock from China and sell locally. Ship by sea for regular restocking and by air for fast-moving or trending items.

Does CargoBoss sell products?

No. We're a freight forwarder: we ship and clear the goods you buy from your own suppliers.

Rates & charges

How much does shipping cost?
Route Standard Small package (≤0.20 CBM) Overweight
China → Manila (sea) ₱9,500 / CBM ₱1,900 flat ₱22.50 / kg
above 420 kg/CBM
China → Cebu (sea) ₱11,500 / CBM ₱2,300 flat ₱22.50 / kg
above 510 kg/CBM
China → Manila (air) ₱550 / kg n/a n/a

For an instant estimate, use our calculators: Sea to Manila, Sea to Cebu, Air to Manila.

What's included in the rate? Are there hidden charges?

Our rates are all-in. Customs taxes and duties, warehouse storage and documentation fees are already included. There are no separate customs bills to settle on your end.

Charges outside the freight rate only apply in specific cases: electronics surcharges, delivery outside the free-delivery area, storage after the free period, or extra handling you request.

Do you charge by weight or by CBM?

Sea freight is charged by volume (CBM). If your cargo is very heavy for its size (over 420 kg per CBM for Manila, 510 kg per CBM for Cebu), it is charged by weight at ₱22.50 per kg instead.

Air freight is charged at ₱550 per kg, using whichever is higher: the actual weight or the volumetric weight (CBM × 167 kg). Weights are rounded up to the next kilo, so 1.5 kg is billed as 2 kg.

What is CBM and how do I compute it?

CBM means cubic meter. Multiply the box's length × width × height in centimeters, then divide by 1,000,000.

Example: a 60 × 50 × 40 cm carton is 120,000 ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.12 CBM. Add up all your cartons for the total.

The final CBM is based on our China warehouse measurement of the actual cartons, which can differ from the supplier's estimate.

Are there extra charges for phones, tablets and laptops?
Item Sea (Manila & Cebu) Air
Mobile phone +₱300 / unit ₱1,000 / unit
Tablet +₱300 / unit ₱1,500 / unit
Laptop +₱300 / unit ₱3,000 / unit

For sea freight, the per-unit charge is added on top of the regular CBM rate.

If I have several small packages, will you combine them?

No. Each package that arrives separately is measured and charged on its own. Two small parcels (0.20 CBM or below each) that arrive separately are charged the small-package rate twice. To save, ask your supplier to pack everything into one shipment.

Do you have discounts for bigger shipments?

Yes. Shipments of 3 CBM and above get discounted rates, plus free door-to-door delivery within 35 km of our Malabon warehouse. Message us for a quote.

Can rates change?

Yes. Rates published on our website apply, but they can change without prior notice, and quotations can change after the actual measurement, weight and classification of your cargo. Your final billing statement reflects the actual cargo.

Can you show me a sample computation?

Sea, regular cargo (Manila): 3 cartons of 0.25 CBM = 0.75 CBM × ₱9,500 = ₱7,125.

Sea, heavy cargo (Manila): 0.5 CBM weighing 300 kg is 600 kg per CBM, above the 420 kg limit, so it's billed by weight: 300 kg × ₱22.50 = ₱6,750.

Air: a 50 × 40 × 30 cm box weighing 6 kg has a volumetric weight of 0.06 CBM × 167 = 10.02 kg, rounded up to 11 kg. 11 kg × ₱550 = ₱6,050.

Why is my bill different from the calculator or my supplier's estimate?

We bill on the actual size and weight measured at our China warehouse. Supplier estimates often leave out packaging, or the final cartons end up bigger. Overweight, electronics charges and separately arriving packages can also change the total.

Who pays the delivery from my supplier to your China warehouse?

That's arranged between you and your supplier. Many suppliers include free local delivery to a warehouse in China; ask before you pay.

Are customs duties included even for expensive items?

Yes. Customs taxes and duties are included in the all-in rate. Phones, tablets and laptops carry the per-unit charges listed above.

Do you offer full container (FCL) shipping?

Our main service is LCL (shared container). For full-container or very large volumes, message us for a quote.

Can I get an invoice or receipt for my business records?

Yes. We issue a service invoice for our logistics fees, plus your delivery receipt and waybill.

Is the rate the same from Guangzhou, Shishi and Yiwu?

Yes. All sea routes to Manila use the same China → Manila rate, and both sea routes to Cebu use the China → Cebu rate.

How can I estimate CBM before my supplier ships?

Ask your supplier for the carton size, the number of cartons and the gross weight per carton (they're usually on the packing list). Enter them in our calculator to estimate your shipping fee.

Is my sea shipment ever charged by weight if it's light?

No. Light cargo is always charged by CBM. Weight-based billing only applies when cargo is heavier than 420 kg per CBM (Manila) or 510 kg per CBM (Cebu).

Do you have promos?

We announce promos and rate updates through our newsletter, Facebook Page and Facebook Group. Shipments of 3 CBM and above always get discounted rates.

Shipping & transit

How long does shipping take?

Sea freight: around 20–30 days from the time your cargo reaches our China warehouse.
Air freight: around 3–7 days.

These are estimates, not guarantees. Port congestion, vessel schedule changes, customs inspections, weather and Chinese or Philippine holidays can cause delays.

Sea or air, which should I choose?

Choose sea for bulky or heavy goods and regular restocking; it's much cheaper per unit. Choose air for small, light, urgent or high-value items like samples, accessories and gadgets. Our calculators let you compare both before you book.

How do I track my shipment?

Use our Track Shipment page, log in to your account to view your shipment history, or use the CargoBoss app. We also send email updates as your shipment moves.

My order was split. Why didn't all my boxes arrive together?

As an LCL (shared container) forwarder, we load cargo based on container space, schedules, cargo size and weight, and customs requirements. Boxes from the same order, especially ones that reached our warehouse on different days, can go on different containers and arrive on different dates. We can't guarantee they ship together, though you can ask and we'll try.

Does first-in, first-out apply?

FIFO is our general practice, but it isn't a guarantee. Cargo that arrived earlier is usually loaded earlier, but container space and cargo characteristics can change the order.

When does the transit time start counting?

From the day your cargo arrives at our China warehouse, not from the day you paid your supplier. Production and your supplier's delivery time aren't included.

How will I know my cargo reached your China warehouse?

Check the Track Shipment page or your app. You'll also get email updates. If your supplier says it's delivered but nothing shows yet, send us the supplier's courier tracking number and box photos.

Why is my shipment delayed?

Common causes are port congestion, vessel rollovers or schedule changes, customs inspections, typhoons, and holidays in China or the Philippines. Missing order codes or cargo sent to the wrong warehouse also slow things down. Message us with your order code for a status check.

Are there busy seasons I should plan around?

Yes. Chinese New Year (January–February) and China's Golden Week (early October) close many factories and slow logistics. Holiday stock for Christmas also fills containers from September to November. Order early during these periods.

Does customs open my boxes?

The Bureau of Customs and Chinese customs can inspect any shipment. Inspected boxes may arrive opened and re-taped. Inspections can add time and are outside our control.

I'm in Visayas or Mindanao. Can I still use CargoBoss?

Yes. Our China → Cebu routes are the fastest option for Visayas and Mindanao. Pick up in Cebu or arrange onward courier from there; message us for help.

Can you deliver straight to my customer's address?

Message us with the address before your cargo arrives and we'll tell you the delivery options and fees.

Can I switch from sea to air (or air to sea) after my supplier ships?

Sea and air use different China warehouses, so switching after delivery means a transfer with extra fees and time, if it's possible at all. Decide on sea or air before giving your supplier the address.

Which China warehouses ship to Cebu?

Guangzhou and Yiwu, both by sea. Shishi (sea) and Fujian (air) ship to Manila only.

Does air freight go to Cebu?

Our air route is Fujian → Manila. For Cebu, use sea freight from Guangzhou or Yiwu.

Warehouses & labels

What address do I give my supplier?

Get the current address for your route on our Warehouse Addresses page. Each route has its own warehouse, so double-check that you're sending to the right one: Manila or Cebu, sea or air.

Cargo sent to the wrong warehouse (for example, a Manila order sent to the Cebu or air warehouse) may incur transfer and handling charges, and its transit time can't be guaranteed.

How should my supplier label the boxes?

Every carton must show your unique CargoBoss order code clearly on the outside. The format depends on your route:

Sea → ManilaCBOSS-XXXXXCode as is
Air → ManilaAIR+CBOSS-XXXXXAdd "AIR" before the code
Sea → CebuCEB+CBOSS-XXXXXAdd "CEB" before the code

Ask your supplier to remove or cover old labels and barcodes. Unlabeled boxes are hard to match to an owner and can be delayed.

What packaging do you require?
  • Sturdy boxes, crates or heavy-duty poly mailers, fully sealed.
  • Internal protection (bubble wrap, foam, dividers) so items don't move.
  • Fragile items (glass, ceramics, electronics, displays, lighting) need extra padding and a "FRAGILE" label, and crating where needed. A label alone isn't enough.
  • Heavy, oversized or odd-shaped cargo should be crated or palletized and strapped.

Your supplier does the packing, so please send them these instructions. Our receiving the box doesn't mean the packaging was checked or approved.

Can I pull out or return goods already at your China warehouse?

Generally no. Once goods reach our China warehouse, pull-out requests aren't accommodated unless approved by CargoBoss, and approved requests carry handling, storage and transfer fees.

Where do I pick up in the Philippines?

Manila: 59 Rivera Street, Malabon City (FSW Commercial Warehouse Rental, Gray Gate)

Cebu: Advent Traders Center, Warehouse 4B, Gochan Compound, M.J. Cuenco Ave., Mabolo, Cebu City

Please wait for your release notice and settle your billing before going to the warehouse.

What should I tell my supplier exactly?
  • The China warehouse address and contact details for your route, copied exactly from our Warehouse Addresses page
  • Your CargoBoss order code, to be written on every carton
  • Our packaging requirements, especially for fragile goods
  • A request to send you the courier tracking number and photos of the packed boxes
My supplier forgot to put my order code on the box. What now?

Message us right away with your order code, the supplier's courier tracking number, and photos of the boxes or the product so we can identify your cargo. Unlabeled boxes take longer to match and may miss the next container.

Can my supplier use any courier to deliver to your warehouse?

Yes. Local Chinese couriers and trucking companies are fine, as long as the address and order code are correct.

Do you check or inspect what's inside my boxes?

No. We receive, measure and ship your cartons, but we don't check product quality, quantity or internal packing. Quality checks are between you and your supplier.

Extra inspection, repacking or reinforcement can be requested before shipping, subject to our approval and additional charges.

Can I visit your warehouse?

You can see how we operate in our warehouse tour video. For pickup, go to the Manila or Cebu warehouse after your release notice.

Which China warehouse should I use?
  • Guangzhou: suppliers in Guangdong (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan); electronics, furniture, beauty and general goods. Ships to Manila and Cebu.
  • Yiwu: suppliers in Zhejiang; small commodities, home goods, toys, accessories and packaging. Ships to Manila and Cebu.
  • Shishi: suppliers in Fujian; apparel, shoes and bags. Ships to Manila.
  • Fujian (air): any supplier, when you need it fast. Ships to Manila.
Can you hold my cargo in China until all my orders arrive?

We generally ship cargo as it arrives and can't guarantee holding it for other orders. You can request it, but if you want everything to travel together, it's best to have your suppliers deliver around the same time.

Can I use one order code for several suppliers?

No. Each supplier needs its own order code. We don't consolidate packages, so every supplier's shipment is received, measured and billed separately under its own code. Book a new shipment for each supplier before they ship.

Allowed & prohibited items

What items can I ship?

All legal goods: apparel, home goods, tools, beauty and packaging supplies, electronics, machinery, furniture and more. Fragile items are accepted as long as they're packed properly.

What items are not allowed?
  • Firearms, ammunition and their parts
  • Illegal drugs
  • Replicas and counterfeit or fake branded goods
  • Flammable materials and toxic chemicals
  • Anything else prohibited under Philippine law

Prohibited goods may be refused, held, surrendered or reported to authorities, and the shipper bears the resulting costs and penalties. If you're unsure about an item, ask us before you order.

Can you ship branded products?

Genuine branded goods are fine. Replicas, "class A" items, and anything with a fake brand logo are not accepted.

Can I ship items with batteries, like power banks or e-bikes?

Batteries, power banks, e-bikes and electric scooters have extra restrictions, especially by air. Ask us before you order so we can confirm if and how they can ship.

Can I ship food, cosmetics, supplements or medicine?

These are regulated in the Philippines and may need permits from the FDA or other agencies. Message us with the exact product before buying.

What about liquids, powders, perfume or aerosols?

Flammable items are prohibited, and many liquids, powders and aerosols are restricted. Send us the product details first.

Can I ship big items like furniture or machinery?

Yes, by sea. Ask your supplier to crate or palletize them. Heavy machinery may be billed by weight under the overweight rule.

Can I ship used or second-hand items?

Some used goods are restricted by Philippine regulations. Message us with the item details before shipping.

Can I ship plants, seeds or animals?

Live animals and plants, seeds and similar agricultural items need special permits. Ask us before ordering.

Payment & release

When do I pay?

You pay once your shipment arrives and we send your billing statement, which is based on the actual measured CBM or weight. Your cargo is released only after full payment of all charges.

What payment methods do you accept?
  • BDO bank transfer or deposit
  • GCash
  • QR Ph (scan with any participating bank or e-wallet app)
  • Credit and debit cards

Use the payment details on your billing statement, then upload your proof of payment with your order code.

How do I send my proof of payment?

Upload it on our Upload Proof of Payment page, with your order code, so we can match it and schedule release.

Can I pick up part of my shipment first?

Partial pickups aren't allowed unless CargoBoss approves them. Please plan to pick up or receive the full shipment.

Is there a storage fee if I can't pick up right away?

You get a free storage window. Starting 7 calendar days after your billing date, storage is charged at ₱300 per day until the cargo is claimed.

Cargo unclaimed after 30 days may be moved to another facility at your cost. After 60 days with no response to our notices, it may be treated as unclaimed and disposed of according to law. Keep your contact details updated.

Do you deliver?

Yes. Delivery is free within 35 km of our Malabon warehouse for shipments of 3 CBM and above.

Can I get BOC receipts or an import entry under my company name?

No. Our LCL service ships under a consolidated import entry, so individual BOC official receipts, import entries and goods declarations aren't issued under your company name. We provide service invoices, delivery receipts and waybills.

If your business, client or accountant needs customs documents in your own name, tell us before booking so you can choose a different import arrangement.

Can someone else pick up for me?

Yes. Your representative should bring a valid ID, an authorization letter from you, and your proof of payment or order code. We may ask for more documents before release.

What do I need to bring when picking up?
  • A valid ID
  • Your order code and proof of payment
  • An authorization letter if you're picking up for someone else
  • A vehicle big enough for your cargo
Why can't my cargo be released yet?

Cargo is held until every charge is paid, including freight, storage and delivery fees. If you've already paid, make sure you uploaded your proof of payment with the correct order code, then message us.

What happens to cargo I never claim?

Storage fees keep running. After 30 days it may be moved to another facility at your cost, and after 60 days with no response to our notices it may be sold, donated or disposed of according to law, with the proceeds applied to your unpaid charges.

Can I change my delivery address or schedule?

Yes, message us as early as possible. Changes made after dispatch may not be possible or may have extra fees.

How will I receive my billing statement?

We send it electronically to the contact details on your booking: email, mobile number or Messenger. Make sure those details are up to date.

How long do I have to pay after billing?

Pay within 7 calendar days of your billing date to avoid storage fees. From day 7 onward, ₱300 per day is charged until your cargo is released.

Can I pay my supplier and shipping together?

Supplier payment (through Pabayad) and shipping are billed separately: Pabayad before your supplier ships, shipping when your cargo arrives.

Customs & documents

Who handles customs clearance?

We do. Customs clearance in the Philippines is part of the service, and taxes and duties are already in the rate. You don't have to deal with the Bureau of Customs yourself.

Who is the importer of record?

For consolidated LCL shipments, CargoBoss or its designated broker is the importer of record for the consolidated shipment.

Do I need to send you my supplier's invoice or packing list?

Keep your supplier invoice, receipts and proof of payment. We may ask for them for customs purposes, and you'll need them if you ever file a claim.

What if my goods are held by customs?

We'll inform you and coordinate. Goods held because they're prohibited, undeclared or need permits may be delayed, surrendered or seized, and resulting costs are for the shipper.

Is the information I give you accurate enough?

Please describe your goods truthfully and completely when booking or asking for a quote. Wrong or incomplete descriptions can cause customs holds, penalties and refused claims.

Pabayad: paying your supplier

What is the Pabayad Service?

Pabayad lets you pay your Chinese supplier without card fees. You pay us in pesos, and we send the equivalent RMB directly to your supplier's bank account, using competitive exchange rates through our FOREX partner.

How long does a Pabayad transfer take?

Payments usually reach your supplier's account within 1–3 business days.

Is there a minimum amount, and what's today's rate?

Minimums and exchange rates change, so message our chat support for the current figures before you transfer.

Pabayad works best when you already trust your supplier or have ordered from them before. Learn more about Pabayad.

What details do I need for a Pabayad transfer?

Your supplier's bank account details (account name, account number and bank) and the amount in RMB, plus their invoice. Double-check the details with your supplier, since bank transfers are hard to reverse.

Why use Pabayad instead of my credit card?

Card payments to Chinese suppliers often carry high foreign transaction and conversion fees. Pabayad uses a bank-to-bank transfer at a competitive RMB rate, which usually costs less.

Do I have to ship with CargoBoss to use Pabayad?

No. Pabayad is available as a standalone service.

Should I use Pabayad or Alibaba Trade Assurance?

For a new supplier you haven't tested, Trade Assurance gives you buyer protection. Pabayad is best for suppliers you already trust or who sell outside Alibaba.

Can you pay through WeChat Pay or Alipay?

Pabayad is a bank-to-bank transfer. If your supplier only accepts WeChat Pay or Alipay, message us and we'll tell you the available options.

Will I get proof that my supplier was paid?

Ask our team for the transfer confirmation, which you can forward to your supplier.

Damage, loss & claims

My item arrived damaged or missing. What do I do?

File a claim through our official Facebook Page within 72 hours of delivery. Include:

  • Photos and video of the cargo and its packaging, ideally taken while unboxing
  • Your supplier invoice or receipt and proof of payment
  • Clear evidence of the damage or missing items

Freight charges must be fully paid before a claim is processed.

Is my shipment insured? How much can I claim?

CargoBoss doesn't provide "all risk" insurance. Where we're found liable, compensation is the lowest of: ₱25,000; the actual proven loss; the goods' value at origin; your declared value; or 5× the freight paid from China to the Philippines.

Compensation is based on the purchase price in China, not on resale value or lost profit. Damage caused by inadequate supplier packaging or the fragile nature of the goods isn't covered.

How can I lower the risk of damage?
  • Ask your supplier for photos of the packed cartons before they ship.
  • Request double boxing, foam or crating for fragile goods.
  • Record a video every time you open a shipment.
  • Ship high-value items separately and consider your own cargo insurance.
My box arrived opened or re-taped. Is something missing?

Boxes can be opened during customs inspection. Count your items right away, take photos and video, and file a claim within 72 hours if anything is missing or damaged.

My supplier sent the wrong items or fewer pieces. Can CargoBoss help?

We ship the cartons exactly as your supplier sent them and don't check what's inside. Raise wrong, defective or short items with your supplier, or through Alibaba Trade Assurance if you used it.

Can I file a claim after 72 hours?

The 72-hour window starts at delivery, so please open and check your cargo right away. Late claims may not be accepted.

What if I disagree with the result of my claim?

Talk to us first; we'll try to settle it in good faith. Unresolved disputes go to arbitration in Las Piñas City, as stated in our Terms and Conditions.
